What do I need to pack for camp?

Please refer to our complete packing list here.

Are cell phones, tablets and other electronic devices allowed?

We strongly recommend that cellphones and other electronic devices be left at home. Students will have a better camp experience without worrying about their phone. Wi-Fi is not available and students can only use their phones during non-scheduled times, like free time. If students are using their phones during scheduled activities or phones are being used irresponsibly, their leader may take away a student's phone until the end of the week. SYC is not responsible for lost/stolen/damaged cell phones, cell phone accessories or any manner of electronics.

Should students bring money to camp?

Students may want to bring a small amount of change to camp to purchase items at tuck shop. Tuck shop is open every day during free time. Items typically include pop, chips, candy, and ice cream. Spending money amounts are optional, but we suggest $10 to $20 per student but a smaller amount would be adequate.

How do I get to camp?

Transportation is the responsibility of the student and church group. Some arrange carpooling within their group, others take locally arranged buses. If you live in the Calgary area and would like to know more about bussing, please contact Mike@RHBC.ca.

What is the leader to student ratio?

We ask that each church have one leader for every six students. For those students who do not have a church group or leader to attend with, please contact the SYC team and we’ll connect you with a church in your area.

What are the expectations as a youth leader?

The structure of SYC relies on youth leaders to assist in various ways throughout the week. Please see our Youth Leader Expectations for full details.

Can family, friends or church members come visit?

For the safety and security of everyone at camp, all outside visits should be arranged through the SYC team prior to camp. If you know of a guest who wants to come to camp, please have them email the SYC team and let us know the date and time they are planning on attending. It’s important that guests do not disrupt or take away students from scheduled activities.
If guests are staying for a meal, it will be their responsibility to pay Prairie Bible College directly.

Is camp accessible for those with mobility issues?

Yes, the facilities at Prairie Bible College are wheelchair accessible. Activities within our schedule can be done by all mobility levels. Please be sure to note any mobility issues and accessibility requirements when you register for camp.

Is there a meal provided on the Sunday evening?

There is no full meal provided on the first day of camp. However a snack will be provided later in the evening. Please ensure that students eat dinner before arriving at camp.

What happens if my child gets sick at camp?

If a student gets sick, including showing unexplained COVID symptoms, they will be isolated from other students while parents are contacted and required to come and pick up their youth. If there is a major medical emergency, we will call an ambulance and contact parents immediately.
